Ok, so that is the Problem. By changing it via systemsettings, you
replaced the "@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@" with an hardlink to
spacefun, which was not available after upgrading to wheezy.
So this should only affects a few users.

No, it's kdm/desktop-base fault.
