Package: ktalkd
Version: 4:3.1.3-1
Severity: normal

Ktalkd does not work correctly when run under user nobody (which is
default). When trying to start talk with logged-in user running kde
session, ktalkd displays "user's not there at the moment" message and
starts auto-answerer immediately. Changing "nobody.tty" to "root.tty"
in inetd.conf fixes the problem. I know it would be *much* better to run
ktalkd under non-root user, but it does not work as it should ;(.

This bug won't be fix upstream (and has been closed). See comment at
https://bugs.kde.org/147056:
"------- Comment #2 From David Faure 2008-07-03 19:08:35 (-) [reply] -------

So people are still using ktalkd? That's amazing.
It has been removed from KDE 4, for two reasons: apparent lack of
interest from users (IM has replaced talk for most people), and a
large number of security issues (I wrote ktalkd before I knew anything
about security, which is bad for a daemon running as root)....
Sorry, I don't think this bug will ever get fixed :("
