Bug#496940: [kdelibs] KDE does not use /etc/xdg/autostart
Package: kdelibs
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
Hello,
KDE does not recognize the generic autostart directory of xdg as said in
http://standards.freedesktop.org/autostart-spec/autostart-spec-latest.html
. The folder is /etc/xdg/autostart. GNOME does care about.
This bug seems to has been fixed by Fedora and Ubuntu but not by
upstream. Have a closer look on
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444350 and
http://patches.ubuntu.com/k/kdelibs/extracted/kubuntu_68_xdg_autostart.diff
I found this bug since I wondered why GNOME does automatically start
"update-notifier" but KDE does not (yes, I added "KDE" to "ShowOnlyIn"
in /etc/xdg/autostart/update-notifier.desktop).
The patch form Ubuntu seems to be simple but I do not exactly know if
there is a need for another dependency of the kdelibs4c2a package to
more xdg stuff. However, it would be nice if there could be a fix for
Lenny before it gets stable...
BTW: KDE4 does not seem to have this bug.
