It occured to me that it might be better to just move the
responsibility of shutting down the splash screen from individual
init.d scripts to /etc/init.d/rc, as it already have an idea of when
the splash screen should stop.

Because of this, I have implemented a change in sysv-rc to call the
splash_stop() function and will upload a fix to close this issue.  I
will give it some more testing before uploading.
