Hi
the bug isn't reproducible here, and all works fine. What version of kicker
do you have?
Could you please past the output of
        $ apt-cache policy libc6

A friend of mine using also Sid confirmed that bug on his machine.

Here are the versions I use of libc6 and kicker

% LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy libc6
libc6:
 Installed: 2.5-8
 Candidate: 2.5-8
 Version table:
    2.6~20070518-2 0
       300 http://ftp.lip6.fr experimental/main Packages
*** 2.5-8 0
       990 http://ftp.fr.debian.org sid/main Packages
       100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

% LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy kicker
kicker:
 Installed: 4:3.5.7-1
 Candidate: 4:3.5.7-1
 Version table:
*** 4:3.5.7-1 0
       990 http://ftp.fr.debian.org sid/main Packages
       100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
    4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6 0
       700 http://ftp.lip6.fr testing/main Packages
    2.3.6.ds1-13 0
       700 http://ftp.lip6.fr testing/main Packages

Kweather applet was present in kicker before upgrade. When I restarted
KDE, it appeared with the default grey background, even if kicker was
transparent. I removed and added again the applet, which appeared with
the correct background, but stayed like that when I swtched to another
desktop. Note also that the background doesn't change either when I
move the applet to another location in kicker.
