Last time you might have run into a corner case due to connection problems or unusual server behaviour which confused kmail. As a result it created the account wrong way (which was visible for the user). You could have tried recreating the account later. I still agree that kmail should handle these cases better, however, the problem does not render kmail completely unusable. Hence I'm downgrading severity of this bug to important.
