Hi!

I configured kaddressbook in kontact to look up addresses in an LDAP
server. I use SSL and SASL/DIGEST-MD5. If I start the Contacts view
rights after starting contact, it takes about one minute to load the
LDAP contacts. In this time, kio_imap eats 100% CPU time. And every
LDAP action (store a new contact, searching, etc.) takes the same amount
of time.

If I start the kmail view and try to read mails, I suspect it tries to
look up a contact for every mail address it encounters. Until the
address is found, no mail body is displayed, and for every mail (maybe
even for every mail address) a kio_ldap process eating
(100%/number-of-kio_ldap-process) CPU. If there are too many (7 or 8
processes) kontact crashes.

On the server runs debian sarge:

Thanks for any help.

BTW: The Ressource setup dialog for an LDAP address book is (at least in
german) not very understandable, it took me a whole afternoon to find
out what to fill in which of the fields:

"Benutzer" ("User",it wants not the DN like many other LDAP clients,
but really only my username "martin")
"Bind-DN" (It started to work after I accidentally left this one empty
instead of using my user DN)
"Bereich" (maybe "Realm" in english, AFAIK the slapd should take care of
translating DN to SASL realsm. It worked after leaving it empty, too)

Ciao

Martin

Thanks for the response Martin! I'm closing the bug then.
