Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.2.2-2
Severity: wishlist

The default setup, where deleted messages are moved to a local trash
folder, is quite countrary to the IMAP spirit as it means downloading
the message to the local trash folder.

An alternative (which I do in my setup) is to specify a remote
trash folder, so that KMail can use IMAP message moving feature
without the need to fetch the message.

What I'd like to see instead as the default is flagging the messages
I delete as "Deleted" using the IMAP flagging mechanism, and then
having the deleted messages purged on exit (manually or automatically
dependent on the user setup). This is the way it's done in Pine
(the reference IMAP client) and, IIRC, in nsmail as well.

I hope it is not difficult to implement as the deletion code already
uses flagging messages deleted when they're moved away, and purges
them when the move is completed, according to what I see in the IMAP
intercepts.

the use the commande "DELETE Message" instead of "Move to Trash".

kmail has that, and purges mail on folder change.
