Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.4.3-3
Severity: wishlist

Should have the option (default?) to transparently use Jabber transports
for AIM/MSN/Yahoo/ICQ/etc support instead of plugins. Jabber solved the
multiprotocol problem on the server side, how about letting the server
do all the work?

Hi Paul!

There are two problems with your proposal as I see it:

a) not all jabber servers support all transports, therefore kopete will still
need to support legacy jabber server and users without jabber accounts

b) this will require implementing multiprotocol support within the jabber
plugin and appropriate controls within kopete proper. Debian doesn't usually
develop user level features in software with an active upstream. If you want
to support such a development, please start with http://developer.kde.org/ or
http://www.kde.og/jobs/

Since I don't think this is Debian stuff, I close the bug report.

Regards, David
