Another idea would be to use the Firefox developer tools to look at
the network trace and see if there are any anomalies. You could
compare the Firefox network trace between raw network access and via
the SSH SOCKS proxy I suggested in the other mail. You could also
export the network traces as a pair of HAR files and we could take a
look at those locally.
