The Lucid version of speech-dispatcher running the sd_generic module interface
currently breaks speech out from speechd.

Steps to reproduce

1. uncomment espeak generic from ~/.speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf
2. restart speech-dispatcher
3. run orca from the terminal and pick espeak generic from the voice engine
list.
4. note orca is now silent

I am able to reproduce this issue in Ubuntu 10.10. When espeak-generic is set
as the speech engine, Orca is silent. There is no sound output. When espeak is
set again, without restarting anything except Orca, speech is restored.
