Well, this is an 'or'ed dependency:

 Package: ssh-askpass-gnome
 Depends: [...] openssh-client | ssh (>= 1:1.2pre7-4) | ssh-krb5

So this could be dropped, but doesn't prevent removal of the transitional
package.
