interested in packaging texmacs

I am interested in packaging and becoming a maintainer for texmacs.
According to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=404375 it is orphaned by
the previous maintainer. According to

the previous upload was done by Lionel. I tried contacting him via email
(lmamane@debian.org) couple of days ago but did not get a reply back. 

I am wondering if any DDs here are willing to sponsor the packages that I
will be building?

Once the sponsorship issues settles, I can add info to bug:404375 that I
would like to help/"take over" the package.
