And this morning to me :-)  He saw this mail before it was posted.

This could be dumped to debian-email without a problem.  Publically
stating that a package is in a bad state is nothing that should be
done behind closed doors.  If done publically others can jump in
and offer assistance, and it will increase the pressure of the
maintainer being MIA.
