Bug#58174: metamail is unable to launch any file

I wasn't able to reproduce this bug. Both the slink and potato
versions of mime-support and metamail worked fine:

rjs@anar:~/t$ metamail -b -c image/x-portable-pixmap bg-greenhill.xpm 

This message contains 'image/x-portable-pixmap'-format data.
Do you want to view it using the 'display' command (y/n) [y] ?

There is only a minor problem: metamail leaves a zero-length file in
/tmp (/tmp/mm.DdxZRp in this case). (The "display" command above was
run on another file in /tmp, which metamail correctly deleted.)

The potato versions I tried were:
