Hello again world, I posted this list around the start of this month, so I guess it's about time for an update. For those who didn't see it last time, it's a list of non-wishlist, unfixed bugs that are 24 months old or more. Obviously, these aren't as high a priority as the release-critical bugs, but they're still worth fixing, so if you're feeling bored with packaging the latest and greatest versions of anything and everything, you might like to try your hand at fixing some of these. The theory is basically: * check to see if you can reproduce the bug. If you can't, and you think you should be able to, check through the changelog and/or mail the submitter/maintainer to see if the bug really does still exist. * if you can reproduce the bug, see if there's an obvious cause. If there's a patch in the report, try applying that, and see if it solves it. Search the web to see if it's been discussed somewhere else. Check RedHat's version of the package to see if they've got a fix. Check the source yourself to see if anything's obviously wrong. If you have any success, mail a summary to the bug number. * if you can find the cause, see if you can fix it. If you can, mail a patch, with an explanation to the maintainer, and, if you're a developer, offer to do an NMU. An up-to-the-minute copy of this list is available at http://master.debian.org/~ajt/oldbugs.html This even has spiffy links to the bug pages themselves, now, and should be nicely formatted for your browser. It gets updated automatically a couple of times a day, so closed/fixed bugs should disappear automatically. If there's some more info on the status of the bug that would be nice to have on the oldbugs page, please mail me about it. This list excludes dpkg and X related bugs -- please join the debian-dpkg list and work with those guys for dpkg bugs, or the X Strike Force at http://master.debian.org/~branden/xsf.html for X related bugs. Changes since last time: * The man-db bugs seem to be mostly fixed, if not all closed. * Torsten Landschoff has submitted a patch for bug 4293 * Michael Dorman's packages that were affected, namely mailtools, xpm4.7 and mhonarc no longer have *any* open bugs! * Bug#5583 against boot-floppies has been addressed, and boot-floppies doesn't have any other bugs older than two-years. * Julian Gibley has adopted fvwm, and fixed all the really old bugs, as well as most of the recent ones. * Bug#6087 against strace has been addressed, and strace doesn't have any other bugs older than two-years. * Bug#7148 against libdb2-dev has been addressed, leaving no bugs older than two years, and only one bug younger than two years left! * Bug#7541 against dupload has been reclassified as wishlist. All of which is, of course, very cool. On the downside, a whole month full of bugs have suddenly hit the "older than two years mark", we've gone from 66 bugs older than two years, to around 75. So, without further ado, the list itself...
