Package: xinetd
Version: 2.2.1-8

I tried restricting some services to 'local access only' by placing the
following parameter under those services (e.g. login, finger, amanda)
in xinetd.conf:

	only_from = localnet

localnet is defined in /etc/networks as follows:

localnet 10.7.7.0

xinetd denies me access to the services I set up this way.

However, if I change 'only_from' as follows:

	only_from = 10.7.7.0

then xinetd will allow access to the services.

The xinetd.conf man page says that any network name specified in
/etc/networks may be used. However, it seems that this feature is broken
in the current release of xinetd.

Hi people,

All these problems you reported against Debian xinetd package
are fixed now. Please upgrade, if you can.

In case you wondered, the bugs haven't been closed until now because the
package maintainer wasn't around, and the package is in fact orphaned. I am
doing this as a member of the quality assurance group.

Thanks for reporting...
