I had upgraded some packages and did not have keyboard and mouse on X. synaptic works perfectly with slim/openbox, from menu and from lxterminal. Running wdm/openbox,I get this error message in lxterminal: # synaptic No protocol specified (synaptic:20554): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0 ---------------- I've noticed that this only happens when an X application is going to be run as root.
