Bug#106260: marked as done (Doesn't work with 2.4 Universal TUN/TAP driver)

has caused the Debian Bug report #106260,

Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith.

Hi...  

diald can use either SLIP or ethertap devices.  However, kernel developers
consider ethertap devices obsolete in the 2.4 kernel.  It was replaced with
the Universal TUN/TAP driver.  diald and its config scripts know nothing
about these forcing the user to build the obsolete ethertap module into
the 2.4 kernel.

Shouldn't diald and its scripts handle both for users of the 2.2 and 2.4 
kernels?

the bugs that were still opened against it.
