Bug#256324: seti-applet: does not start auto/manually

This package worked for me under a prior install until the transition of
kernel-image-2.6-686 tranistioned out of 2.6.3. For other reasons I
recently re-installed this system and still have not been able to get
this to work again.
When I run setiathome manually from the directory I want it to run in,
everything works as I would expect. However, when I have the
seti-applet setup to start automatically or I try to start it manually,
the console only shows this for each attempt I made to start this:
Trying to start the seti@home client...
I have verified that there is no lock.sah in that directory. I am not
sure how to continue to debug this, but at this time seti-applet is not
usable by me. This is a relatively new install of Debian as well using
d-i and tracking testing/Sarge only.
