Hello, Mr. Moore,
This one ought to be easier to fix... and harder, too, for that matter.
The package should also depend on libgdkxft0 and gdkxft-capplet, which
provide antialiasing support for GDK (IE GTK) applications.
In order for this to be useful, additionaly, the best way I've found
to get
the library to acatualy load is to put these lines in ~/.bashrc:
export LD_PRELOAD
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libgdkxft.so
(I'd love to hear a better way, BTW.)

anti-aliasing-howto was mostly obsolete so I removed the package. Both
Gnome and KDE now use fontconfig and Xft2, instead of the old Xft1.
