This is not all that simple. python2.1 conflicts with zope2.3.x
and python1.5 conflicts with zope2.4.x. Further, it is often
the case that there is a fair amount of internal breakage when
upgrading from one release of zope to another. It is not unusual
to have to delete and reinstall third party components of zope
(Products) to get them to work under new releases.
For example, most database adapters will fail if the
zope binary is simply replaced.

If I were using a zope package, did an upgrade and had sudden
massive breakage of zope because I did an upgrade (because my underlying
RDBMS were no longer available), I would certainly be upset.

I see no other way than to have both zopes and both pythons installable
on a system at least during a transition, testing, and recertification phase.

And if the abominable 'embed the ring of integers in the rational field'
PEP occurs, we will have to have multiple versions of pythons around
for months, if not years.
