I can concur that the Debian code of conduct was not meant to apply
to all spaces in the world, but the underlying concerns justifying that we
have a code of conduct, are equally applicable in other spaces in the
world.

That's not correct. It's not about opinions that we disagree with. It's
about bad behaviour not being sanctioned, the fact that the moderation
teams have been reduced to the bare minimun, dis-information being
tolerated, etc.
I also pretty much dislike the way you framed this "it's group A versus
B", because that's very much inaccurate. And there are too many persons
who likes to antagonize groups...
