This looks like a quite specialised use, but if for instance the CD team
expresses some interst of collecting this information, it would be a useful
addition. Otherwise we could generalise the concept and have simple ‘Warning’
field, with the assumption that a large number of license do not need a warning
and that the list of packages with this field will be small enough for a
developer to browse. This said, it would already contain a quite long list
of packages who use RSA's version of md5.c…
Alternatively, the field you suggested could be first proposed as an extra
field, and then incorporated later as an update if it has been successfully
adopted.
With the advent of virtualisation, the problem of advertisement clauses is also
striking all our projects and derivatives that produce and advertise
Debian-based images ‘for the cloud’. And this may be a stronger problem since
in that case the overlooked advertisement clauses may have more chances to be
directly relevant to the field of use of the system images (i.e. the copyright
holders may be more annoyed by the license infringement).
Actually, I would support a moratory on the acceptance of new works with
advertisement clauses in Debian.
