What is even more confusing is that we have a document called "New Maintainer's
guide" [1] that is not meant to be a guide for new Debian Maintainers or people
in the New Maintainers (NM) process, but for new Package Maintainers.

In my opinion there should be a clear distinction between

- Package maintainers
- Debian maintainers (DM)
- Debian developers (DD)

including related processes and documents ... I don't know if anyone is aware
of each occurence of the different names in documents, official Debian web
pages and other media.
