Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that.

You missed "The initial release of the Debian Common Core, expected
in the September time frame, will be based on Debian 3.1 ("Sarge")
and certified to LSB." from the rather prominent "Press" link.

I wonder if "If you see further references to "Debian Common Core" in
the press, feel free to send them a link to this page or ask them to
contact me." was intended to be ironic.

to refer to the Debian project, but does not indicate endorsement by
