Debian provides the standard Linux kernel, which includes a wide variety of
multimedia drivers. Add-on drivers are included for a few devices; if you
have a specific piece of hardware that you have a question about, just ask.

Debian includes ana enormous number of utilities and applications; again,
ask if you have a specific question. packages.debian.org has a form which
allows you to search package descriptions ("Search Package Directories" and
check the "Descriptions" button) so you can get some idea of what is
available.

You may also be interested in the efforts of the DeMuDi project, which is a
project to provide a Debian-based distribution specially tailored for
multimedia use.
