Bug#70121: automatic build fails for potato

Most sincere congratulations! You won the price for the most hideous bug
report system!

Had you actually bothered to check with someone like, say, Roman, you might
have found out that all my important and frequently-changing packages already
have Build-Depends. Moreover, whenever I omit something, it is typically
fixed within a day of receipt of a bug report from Roman.

This source package however is a) a rather static which hasn't changed much
over the last few years and b) one that doesn't require anything to build. As
I know full well from having maintained it since, err, 1995.

Think about it: A new upload of mine, with Build-Depends, would only have
created additonal compile-load on the build daemons -- but *without improving
anything* as they can already compile this simple ANSI C package!

Further, I already added all the required content more than seven months ago:

    edd@sonny:~/debian/afio-2.4.6/debian> head -6 changelog
    afio (2.4.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

      * (unreleased)
      * debian/control: Added Build-Depends

     --
    edd@sonny:~/debian/afio-2.4.6/debian> ls -ltr control changelog
    -rw-rw-r--    1 edd      edd           765 Jan  8  2000 control
    -rw-rw-r--    1 edd      edd          3581 Jan  8  2000 changelog

only now to be forced by this hideous bug report to make the upload which, as
I argued earlier, doesn't actually add anything to measurably improve
quality.

I think you deserve that we reserve the phrase "to do a Goswin" for
undertakings like this one.

Regards,  Dirk
