These are URIs. Either is valid, but the second is advised when easy
access to the scanner is wanted. Substitute a URI in the lpadmin
command below.
The PPD for your device is
drv:///hpcups.drv/hp-photosmart_c3100_series.ppd
This gets substituted for PPD in the lpadnin command below.
Set up a print queue with
lpadmin -p PRINTQ -v URI -E -m PPD
Test printing with
lp -d PRINTQ /etc/nsswitch.conf
PRINTQ can be anything you choose, such as c3100.
