After no resonse in nearly ten years, my guess would be that the                                                      
Printing Team does not wish to take responsibility for carrying a                                                     
patch to hplip-data indefinitely. Upstream have their own reasons                                                     
for not adopting it, which you could pursue further in LP #270684.
