Your device has AirPrint. scanimage has picked up its DNS-SD broadcasts
from 192.168.178.29.
scanimage -d "hpaio:/net/HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M277dw?ip=192.168.178.29" > scan.pnm
should give you a file which is viewable with imagemagick.
You should also be able to scan from the device's web interface.

Thank you for the thought but, if it is a Brother issue, there is nothing
we can do about it. I'd remove whatever the DCP-9022CDW installed and go
from there.
