Perhaps it's best to forget about my printing test; after all, it is a
different printer from yours and, to some extent, I've lost track of
what worked and didn't work before.

You appear to be correct in thinking the bug has not been attended to in
ghostscript 9.06~dfsg-2. Experimental has ghostscript 9.15~rc1~dfsg-1
and it has the Ghostscript commit which fixes the bug.
