Squeeze: Epson LQ-300+II (dot matrix printer)
Dear all,
(Don't know if this is the right list. I had never before problems with
printing in Debian. So if I'm wrong here, please give me a hint where this
post might fit better).
I would like to use a Epson LQ-300+II, which is a dot matrix printer. I'm
running Debian Squeeze.
I'll describe in short what steps I've taken to set it up:
- configured it trought http://127.0.0.1:631, using the auto search function
- printer gets correctly identified
- serveral drivers are possible to choose, I've used "Epson 9-Pin Series
(en)" and "Epson 24-Pin series (en)"
- setting the resolution and the papersize (I'm using continuous paper)
- trying to print a testpage gives me "Unsupported format
'application/vnd.cups-banner'!"
I've googled around, and found [1] (which is in german). Inside this
thread someone gave the hint to put "application/vnd.cups-banner
string(0,'#CUPS-BANNER')" into /etc/cups/mime.types, which in Debian is
/etc/mime.types, I guess.
/var/log/cups/error_log writes:
E [05/Sep/2012:21:14:42 +0200] Returning IPP
client-error-document-format-not-supported for Print-Job
(ipp://localhost:631/printers/EPSON_LQ-300) from localhost
dmesg writes:
[ 1359.136088] usb 2-4: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while 'usb'
sets config #1
I've put lsusb -v for the device on [2].
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Georg
