Package: cupsys
Version: 1.1.23-4
I have a Sarge server running cupsys. After I printed a couple times from
different clients over network (samba win95, openoffice on sarge, ...)
cupsys decided to stop working out of the blue. I didn't even find
anything in in the logs. When I use the webserver to stop the printer and
the job and then start both again it tells me that the parallel port is
busy. Indeed when I stop the cupsys daemon and use top to see what is
running rastertoprint and parport are still on. I have to use hard kill
to get them out and when I start cupsys again after this it starts
working again.
I don't know what those two processes are for or what they do. Their
names are parport and rastertoprint. Only killing those will start the
printer again. I stopped and started cupsys over and over again and
stopped the printer a couple times. Both didn't work.
I don't know why those freaked out, but I would really appreciate it if
someone would come up with a fix. Maybe someone has an idea what I can
do.
I use standard config files and the gimprint driver for the hp laserjet 4
on my hp laserjet 4+
I use a 2.6.10 kernel compiled from the debian sid source. This happened
before on other kernel versions.
Thx,
Malte Schmidt-Tychsen
