I don't think that hplip-dbg is the correct location for hp-check.
The -dbg packages generally only contain debugging symbols and are mainly used
by _advanced_ users trying to debug segmentation faults and the like.
hp-check is more a general purpose debugging tool suited to average users.
Indeed I have setup presub& bug/script to automatically call hp-check so that
bug reports to Debian automatically have the details from hp-check included.
The majority of people will never install a -dbg package, but everyone who
reports a bug, should be including the details provided by hp-check.
Unrelated, could I ask that when you do an ubuntu release, could you also tag
that release in svn as well.
$ svn-buidpackage --svn-only-tag
I have tagged a few, but not all ubuntu releases. The tagged releases appear
in pkg-hpijs/hplip/tags/...
