FWIW, since that printer is at my parents' house, I do not know when I

Sorry, but the PPD you pointed out is not for the printer I was talking
about:

  http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-Color_LaserJet_CM1017
  http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-LaserJet_1015

Anyway, I checked both the original (2.6.10+1.6.10-3) and current
(3.10.2-3) hpijs-ppds: both lack the PPD for my specific printer, while
the Mac OS X drivers contain it:

This is an upstream problem, since the tarball downloaded from
SourceForge does not contain it either.
