Package: cupsys
Version: 1.2.2-1
Severity: important

My problem seems to be related to bugs #373899, 215468 and 347522 in
particular, but since these have been closed and I am using the latest
cupsys 1.2.2, I am reporting a new bug.
I have been unsuccessfully trying to print to my Brother laser printer
connected by usb. The CUPS web interface happily detects it on
usb://Brother/HL-5150D%20series , but when I try to print a test page it
responds "Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."
Looking in the error log reveals repeated messages
"CUPS-Get-Default client-error-not-found: No default printer"
However, sending a PS file directly > /dev/usb/lp0 works, so the printer
is connected and working.
It seems that cupsys is unable to read correctly the printer status and
concludes it is not connected when it is - even though seconds before it
quite happily detected the presence of the printer.
I would also appreciate enlightenment regarding the secret of the
connection between the new usb://... uri and the /dev/... to check
permissions etc (I am sure I have missed something obvious in the
documentation).
Thanks fo the help
Mark

Version: 1.2.11-1
thanks

This bug seems be fixed already in upstream version 1.2.9.
Although Debian hasn't shipped 1.2.9, we're distributing newer 1.2.11
series for unstable/testing at this time.

Thanks,
