Thanks for the hint. The Plain Paper PIXMA setting does indeed make a
difference. With this setting the density is not as black as known from
other printers (or printed on the same printer from within a well-known
operating system), however it is acceptable.

I'll leave the setting as it is since Plain Paper PIXMA sounds more
suitable for plain paper than the "Glossy Photo Paper" setting.

Could you please elaborate what PIXMA is, some documentation in the BTS
would be helpful?
