I assume that perhaps somewhere in the process you were using something
other than the Debian ports mirror, which I think can lead to the
installer to offer a choice of Debian releases/distributions for
installation instead of automatically selecting Sid/unstable.

Maybe.

But I've done "countless" installations for powerpc and ppc64 targets
when improving d-i/grub-installer and apart from the manual mirror
selection I didn't recognize any major obstacles during the installations.

So yes .. docs need to be written in a "modern" way and I am actually
doing videos also.... however it is frustrating.

Could you maybe create a list of points you consider:

* not working
* unclear
* unknown

...for a specific installer ISO (preferably the latest one, i.e. [1] at
the moment), so that we can work through this list and provide
additional documentation if need be in e.g. the Debian wiki.
