With the latest image? I'm pretty sure this is supposed to work:

I committed the change January, 25 and built the images on January, 27.
Furthermore, I am 99% confident that entering the mirror information
works just fine when using basic installation. I can just test it
myself now on sparc64 (the images are identical) to make sure I'm
not yet crazy.
