nouveau is problematic on PowerPC. If upgrading to the latest kernel
doesn't help, I recommend using a different graphics adapter.

There is no Stretch for powerpc. You have to use "unstable" instead:

> deb http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
> deb-src http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

This will work.
