It appears CRUX came up with a kernel patch to support the 6500P.
Unfortuantely it appears they didn't bother submitting it to the kernel
for inclusion, so even the 3.0 kernel only supports 4500P and 6000P,
not the 6500P (although the patch to make it work is short and trivial).

So patching this into the kernel wouldn't be hard.  Getting it submitted
to the mainline kernel would be a really good idea.
