In your screen shot Speakers is active shown by red letters.
What you have to do is:
open alsamixer
turn with arrow left/right to Master
Press m to unmute
turn with arrow left/right to Speakes
Press m to unmute
turn with arrow left/right to Monitor
Press m to unmute
Play Music
Adjust Volume by
turn with arrow left/right to Master
Adjust Volume with arrow up/down
Anyway press <F1> to get help tuning your sound with alsamixer.
