debian kernels since 2.6.26 have supposedly added PS3 support modulo an
issue here and there. at the time i sent the email, the latest ones in
lenny/sid had the interrupt/locking regression from the mainline 2.6 kernel
that caused boot failures.

however, this was fixed in 2.6.26.5 or 2.6.26.6, and this is uploaded
to unstable now (and otherwise available via the debian kernel snapshot
repository), and i'm running a pure debian system at this point (well,
ps3-utils hasn't yet made it through NEW but it has been uploaded and i
don't foresee there being any problems on that end).

i would suggest waiting until the fixed kernel migrates to lenny (i
guess that should also be *if* it migrates), and then updating the
documentation :) or are there still reasons that the LDSK kernel is
better?

i should also mention that i'm looking at getting an official ps3-kboot
package into debian, though there are some unsolved technical issues that
i think will need to be addressed before it can be accepted into debian.
once that happens, and the subsequent changes are made to the installer,
users should only need a single install media (or at least that's my hope).
