Dunno bout em debian packages, always some screwup on those, for my likings
that is. But yes. 1.x & SVN branch got wmv builtin.

Yes but the reason it won't play the darn video you gave an example of, is
because VLC does not fallback on libavcodec to play (witch I feel should be
primary) and it does not find the xvid codec.

Yes sure they are, but this is one of those screwups, try giving it the xvid
codec. www.xvid.org or something, I don't know if a ppc xvid package is
available.

Try the xvid first. I recon the xv is working just fine.

I'm just expressing my opinion, don't take it to seriously ;)
Yes I just tried VLC (VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus) myself, and since I never
encode videos on my PB I never installed the xvid codecs on it. Hence, it
can't play the xvid files without some sort of fallback:

[00000294] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `XVID'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
apt-signal 2 received, terminating vlc - do it again in case it gets stuck

It's not on its feet. It is missing a codec. Not VLC' fault.
