well this is hopeful news to me, that, Sony is
actually
encouraging to debian.

as far as hardware, i had looked at one, but i don't
quite understand why the initial model maybe only is
limited to the 256MB of RAM that it comes with. that
is not really enough to be building debian i think
(some packages need 1GB to build)...

the mad rush some people just bought them but there
is only 1 game available yet in english so some are
up for resale.

i suppose, although they are backordering the ps3
(not to expect before march) they are shipping ydl5
now which is earlier than i thought it would be
(they needed lead time) ... maybe they got some
funding from sony to produce it on time to bundle
with the original ps3 shipments.

yes, that's the point, don't we need that, i mean
new hardware, not all big servers, but new designs ?

i talk to a guy who works in game industry he says
sony makes one platform and they will stick with it
for five years. not like apple changes all these
models
of the g4s, confusing, and still not really innovating
except around the edges, mostly defense their long
habit
of survivals. apples business of selling software
upgrade i think even they don't understand their own
models until 3 years after they make them...

well i did see a block in the kernel source called
cell.

i don't know what it is about their nano kernel. it
is supposed to be sort of closed. i don't know if
that makes it more like netbsd or macosX. that's
why i was wondering if anyone had it running.

i don't know if it might be easier to crack than
motorolas had their private releases with 2.6.x series
for their project boards. it seems like the interest
here in those has been more or less none.
