I'd have a look to all the files mentioned above. To me this looks
like something's wrong in there thus stopping the boot process ...

If you can't login you might want to chroot or rescue-mode into your
system ...

chroot-ing into a Debian system, hopefully at least valid some time

But it does not look to me as if you're on a Debian system: Fedora,
Novell? ... :) If yes, I'd check their documentation.
