usb mic disables alsa

Hi,

I have a PowerBook5,4, running the latest unstable debian kernel
(linux-image-2.6.15-1-powerpc). I have a Logitech usb microphone, and
if I boot with it unplugged, everything is fine and alsa works
correctly.

However, if it is plugged in when I boot Linux, the system does not
load the module for the Powermac snapper, and if I try to load it
manually, I get this:

tpapp:/home/tpapp# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

tpapp:/home/tpapp# modprobe snd-powermac
FATAL: Error inserting snd_powermac (/lib/modules/2.6.15-1-powerpc/kernel/sound/ppc/snd-powermac.ko): Cannot allocate memory
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_powermac

Of course the workaround is just to unplug the mic when I boot, but I
was wondering if there is a better solution.

Also, alsaconf does not find the snapper device even if I boot without
the microphone.

Thanks,

Tamas
