You should netboot, i am not sure cdrom boots are supposed to work fined on
this box. They should, but ...

Mmm, what version of the installer are you using ? the sarge one ?

Also, try booting vmlinuz-prep.initrd or vmlinuz-chrp.initrd (not sure if your
box is prep or chrp, i think the 43P is prep).

There may be kernel related issues with this machine if it is prep though, but
once you know how to boot it, and get a log on the serial console, we can try
to fix it.
