I can't start X with external monitor plugged in. If I start X without, plug it in after, and enable external output, the external screen is white, or with garbage. It'll be for another time. You can test packages anyway. At the first upgrade xlibs-data complains with an overwrite of a file in xlibs, but the second time everything is ok.
